¿Cómo han estado por ésta semana¿ Yo espero que todos estén bien. Y que todos estén felices.
I love Spanish haha. I am at the point where it is difficult to write in English. However I am still studying in English. Well the bible I hope that I can finish the old testament by October. So far in my mission I have read the book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price and the New Testament. It was been really cool to immerse myself in the scriptures. I have loved the opportunity to study and really learn about the teaching of the church. To learn the doctrine that I have always said is true. I wish I would have had studied the scriptures better at home. It has helped me become a better person and it has helped me see blessings from my patriarchal blessing come to pass. (That sounds weird but I can’t make it better then that unless it is in Spanish.)
Anyway, we were able to have a baptism this last Sunday. It was so wonderful. I thought that I would leave my area and have to find people again. President has found confidence in me and the zone leaders expect me to be in the zone leader council really soon. I hope not I don’t want anything like that I just want to do my missionary job. It is more fun.
In the baptismal service the ward mission leader started to bear his testimony and what not. The normal. However, he gave a powerful testimony and invited the spirit into the room. After that he invited veronica and Cynthia to bear their testimony. They gave such wonderful testimony I cried. (Thanks mom and dad for the crying gene.) Well ok everyone cried too. It was incredible. They cried as well. Every investigator that had doubts about baptism changed their mind after their testimonies. It was absolutely incredible. We think that we will have 5 or so baptisms this week, and just as many for the next. We really have to work hard in this area but the weird thing is my companion wants to be emergency transferred. He is really really prideful. I hope that he learns while he is still young in the mission and has time to change.
One of our baptisms for this Sunday is named veronica. She only came to church once but the zone leaders told us that they were going to ask president for permission to baptize here this last Sunday. He gave it to us and told us that we had to get the support of the bishop. The bishop was a little nervous and started to pressure us and tell us that we were only baptizing for numbers. I told him that I didn’t feel that way. I told him that we were baptizing her so that the devil doesn’t interrupt or attack her for her decision. My companion was really upset and started to attack the bishop, and the ward mission leader. It was really difficult to fix what he did when he offended the bishop. I think that everything is ok between me and the bishopric. I hope that it stays that way. He is very prideful and keeps saying that he can’t work unless everything is perfect. I welcomed him to life and told him that this work neither life is perfect so deal with it. He got made and told me off. But I got him back and went to bed early well of on time. He doesn’t like it when I do that because he is scared of the dark and being alone. Yeah I think it is funny. We have to sleep with the light on because he panics. I am at the point where I can sleep with anything light dark noise silence fan no fan heat cold whatever.
Well this area is really good. I love the members and I love the investigators. We should have more than 10 baptisms. Yeah I am going to stop complaining about missionary work the lord has prepared people here for me. Even if I just plant seeds (I hope I don’t jynx myself) I will be happy. I love being a missionary. I am finally becoming the person that I should be and learning the lessons of life that i wish I would have learned 10 years back.
Quickly I am going to share what I can remember of the investigators that we have.
The Rodriguez Family: they are a family of 5 or so people laura is the daughter and has her husband she has doubts about baptism but I think that she should get baptized within the next six weeks. The husband came late to the baptism and told us that he felt something different. In the church and that he wants to come next week.
The Valdez Family: they are an incredible family. They have been to church 3 times and the only need to get married. We are going to put a wedding date with them this week and hope that they can be baptized the 29 of May.
Juana: she was a contact in the street. She told us to come by one day in the morning. She accepted a date for the 29 for her baptism. She came to church and the baptismal service. She cried like a baby and told us that if she could we would baptize her this Sunday. I am still thinking about moving her date for this Sunday but I don’t feel 100 percent good about it. I am going to talk with the zone leaders and pray a lot this week.
Cynthia’s mom: has come to church a lot 4 or 5 times. And after the baptism of her daughter she told us that the next Sunday she wants to get baptized. Her daughter is so wonderful. She bore her testimony about the feeling that she had in the water. She bawled and said that it was the most wonderful thing that she had ever felt.
The de la cruz family: they came to the baptism and felt the strong spirit and changed a lot of the doubts that they have had. They know that it is true that families really can be eternal and that they can receive forgiveness of their sins. We hope to have their baptism this week but we haven’t put a date yet.
The Martinez Family: They are a family that we found. They came to church Sunday but had to leave because their son wet his pants. I was a little upset with that but this happen. It is normal. They said yes to baptism but we don’t know if they are married and we don’t have a set date with them.
That is everyone that I can think of right now. I love you all ever so much and hope that you don’t find my letters to boring.
I hope that you all have fun celebrating my birthday tomorrow have a cake and some ice cream but then go and play soccer to work that off haha. I love you all ever so much and I hope that everyone is good. I love you all so much. And of course I pray for you always. I hope that everything is good and well. Take care.
