Hey Family,
How is everyone doing? Good I hope.
This week was really really good, well more or less. Our numbers were really good, which all the leaders care is about are the numbers. However, our investigators aren’t really progressing as much as I would like. Ha-ha. Edith didn’t come to church and won’t pray when we invite her to. Omar said he would do everything possible to come to church and didn’t. Eric was sleeping when we showed up to pick him for church. However, Yolanda was ready and excited for church, a blessing.
We had zone conference this past week. It was really different compared to California. In California we usually listen to president give instructions and what we should work on. Here the zone leaders do it. President is always there to give input but just observes. Anyway, the new missionaries were called up to the front to introduce themselves and bear their testimonies. I looked around for the new missionaries and what not and heard my name to come up and introduce myself. I didn’t realize that I was new still ha-ha. All the new missionaries went and bore their testimonies and boy was their Spanish horrible. I am pretty sure that I didn’t speak like that ever in my life, ever. At least I think so. I got up and started talking. All the missionaries who didn’t know me before the conference were shocked. They expected me to speak like the other missionaries ha-ha. I told everyone that I had 7 months in the mission and that I didn’t feel all that new, more like used and worn out. Ha-ha. The conference was overall really good. I had a chance to give advice to the new ones and to avoid falling into the trap of breaking the rules like I did when I first got here. Yes, mom I got up every day this week at 6:30J.
Yolanda is a door contact we had 2 weeks ago. She is doing really well and progressing. Her son is progressing in everything except for the sleeping in Sunday part. We are going to visit them tomorrow and chastise him, lovingly of course. Brenda is the daughter of Yolanda. She is a member of the church but doesn’t live with the family. She went inactive right after her baptism. She was never confirmed. We are trying to help reactivate her and her husband with the baptism of her family. She came to church with her mom and liked it. Sadly she doesn’t live in our area or in our stake at all. We called the missionaries that work in her area and told them she needed to be confirmed I think that went and visited her.
Sunday morning was quite interesting. I had a hard time trying to sleep that night. Tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. I finally fell asleep for what felt like 10 minutes. Next thing I know I am falling out of my bed. I don’t know what I was dreaming about but it must have been intense because I flung myself out of my bed and on to the floor. (We have a bunk bed and I sleep on top. It was a long fall haha.) I bumped my head on a chair and hit my leg pretty hard on my companions table. My leg is all bruised and swollen, but it is getting better. The missionaries I live with had a pretty good laugh telling all the members at church what happened. The assistants thought it was pretty funny as well.
Sunday after church we went to La Concha. It is a small town type thing about a 15 minute bus ride from our house. There haven’t been missionaries in this area for about 3 years. We finally found time to go and knock doors in this area. The first house we knocked let us in and we taught them. They were quick to except the message. They have a date set for April 3. I am really excited for this family. I hope that they progress. I will let you know they are progressing next week.
Well that is really all that happened this week. My companion and I are trying our best to be obedient so that the lord is willing to bless us with success. This work is nothing without him.
I love you all ever so much. I hope that all is well. The church is true. Joseph Smith restored the church so that we could have everything we have today. I love you all. Take care.
