Hey,
How is everyone doing today? Good I hope as always. So this week has been interesting. We were able to find various people that let us in their house to teach them. Wednesday after district meeting I went with the newest elder in the whole mission on an exchange. Man was I terrified. Yeah he was a gringo and his Spanish was more or less bad. However, it went well. We were able to teach 3 lessons and contact a bunch in the street. We found someone who is Islamic yeah what he is doing married to a catholic I’m no sure but ok. We taught him the first lesson and basically said ok ok I believe you but what can I do to receive the blessings I need without getting baptized. He is so stuck on his traditions he doesn’t want to disgrace his family. So, I told him we would come back and talk when I had someone with me who could understand and help a little bit more. Elder day helped a little but I don’t think they could understand him sadly.
Thursday we decided to contact people in the area book who were old investigators. We found Omar. He has had problems with his marriage and feels sad all the time. We started sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and emphasizing on repentance. He shared that at times he feels goods love and his forgiveness other times he can’t feel it. We told him that baptism is the next step when we have done everything to fix the problem and asked for forgiveness we need to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost to truly feel forgiveness. He said that he needs time to think about it. We are visiting him tonight I hope that it goes well and is willing to come to church. He has friends that are members so maybe we can get a hold of them to help us out. They are in the stake I believe.
We were able to find Gloria. After trying and trying we couldn’t find her in her house. We were at the point of just putting her in the area book as try back later. However we went back one last time to visit a neighbor. Gloria happened to be outside her house sweeping. we found out that she had been visiting family who was in the hospital. We set up an appointment and taught what her answer is going to be like what she is going to feel or could feel. She committed to coming to church and guess what she did. She liked it a lot. I was shocked to see here there. She told us that she would just meet us at the chapel and when they say that I doubt that they are going to come. I’ll let you know how everything goes with her.
Sunday the kids that I was teaching with my old comps got baptized. Brandon asked me if I could baptize him. I was a little shocked because I hadn’t seen him in a little while and thought that he had forgotten about me. Anyway the baptism was really good. The mom is probably going to get baptized next Sunday. The bishop’s counselor gave the welcome to the ward speech and he asked her if she wanted to get baptized she said yes. Afterwards I went up and asked her how she really felt. She told me she doesn’t know she wants to but is scared. I told her the lord would give her strength if she really wanted it. I’ll keep you updated on her.
Today I cut my hair. It was going really really good, Ha-ha. I asked my companion for help, big mistake, Ha-ha. He was cutting around my ears and what not and wow he missed. He feels really bad about. I think it is really funny I laughed for a long time. Really it doesn’t bother me. It is a memory I will have for a long time and something we can joke about. So my hair right now is super super short so that it will be less noticeable sooner. J
Oh the other day driving down town we saw spider man and his nemesis venom. Yeah I took pictures. You may not think it is exciting but it is one of the joys of missionary work.
Well I love you all and hope that all is well. Thank you so much for everything that you guys do for me. Your love and example is truly a blessing in my life. Jesus Christ is the savior of the world. This is his church. He gave it to us so that we may be able to receive all the blessing that he and our father in heaven have for us. He wants us to be happy. Only through this his gospel and obedience may we be happy. God lives. We are his children. He loves us. We have a living prophet who leads and guides us today. I love you all ever so much.
Love,
Elder Paskett
